A TIME OF REST…

I believe every situation has a lesson & can be viewed with a ‘half glass full’ mentality.

Well,  this past week was not what I had expected it to look like, at all. I literally did NOTHING but sit in a chair with my feet propped all week.

It all started last weekend. I began babying my RIGHT foot after I got done running. Later that evening, long story short, I ended up stepping on an arrow blade right on the arch of my LEFT foot. If any of you know me, I do not do blood so this was a tragic matter right away. Off to urgent care I go, get my tetanus shot. I also tell them how I have self-diagnosed stress fracture in my right  foot to which they tell me it will not show up in an x-ray anyhow. They give me crutches because they demand I need to stay completely off my left foot (arrow injury). That sounds great & all, but I also have an injured right foot…

I ended up canceling all my sessions for the week & anything else I had going on to simply rest. I put my right foot in a boot so I could put my weight on it to stay off my left foot. All week I crawled up the steps & slid down them. I had to get a ride to and from work at the bank all week… I guess I may call it a week of rest, where everyone else calls it a ‘week of katie being needy’.

This wedding marked my ‘go-time’. I do not catch a weekend break until July for weddings so you can understand my concern for the days ahead. I had to make an intentional decision to not push myself  at all & simply take care by resting. I continue telling everyone that I just can’t make this up.

It was necessary I hire an assistant for the wedding & I am so thankful I did!!!! Andrew was such a huge help & a great entertainer. A major shout out to him & a HUGE thank-you!!!!

I can honestly say, I am thankful for this past week of COMPLETE rest. It has allowed me to get re-focused, prioritize what is most important, catch up in editing & post work, and simply enjoy the ‘stillness’ of the days. By the grace of God, I was strengthened enough to shoot Stephen & Kristin’s wedding. Such an unforeseen circumstance, but the Lord continues to teach me new things through every situation. There were times I felt like I was trapped inside my own body & wanted to have a pity party, but instead, I embraced it…

OFF TO THE WEDDING I GO….
