BRETT + KATE
This wedding was one of a kind for so many reasons & in the best way possible. First, I have never been a bridesmaid and the photographer of a wedding until now & I would have not done it for anyone else but Kate. I say that for a couple reasons. Kate is the most selfLESS person I know. She has a heart of gold. Last year, she actually told me, “I know you will not appreciate this, but photography is not exactly a priority to me.” I was not offended at all because I know this girl & she is a realist. Most people would respond, you will regret not having one, but to be honest, I firmly believe she wouldn’t. She never had a graduation party or went to prom our senior year because that is simply who she is and we LOVE her for it. We love that she does not get caught up in the hype of things, nor does she ever regret not having ‘this or that’. I honestly believe, she would have eloped if Brett would have let her (:
The photographer in me could not let this southern wedding slip through my fingers so we worked it out that I would pull double duties & not get stressed about it. Thankfully, two friends from back home were traveling down to the wedding as well who could assist me. I set the cameras according to the outdoor lighting for them & they did an AWESOME job. I need to give a HUGE shout out to Paige Clevenger + Emily McElroy. Any photos you see that I am in or captured during the ceremony are credited all to them. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Second, the wedding day was 95 degrees, 100% humidity, and 105 heat index. All I have to say is, Kate, your hair amazes me!! When she told me it was going to be down, I thought, have you looked at the weather? Clearly she is untouchable because her hair was flawless all day. I LOVED how it turned out. The ceremony started at 10:30 a.m. at James Island under a big oak tree. Following the ceremony, they served a brunch style meal. It was perfect and very yummy. I can’t forget to mention they had a kettle corn table – music to my ears!!
Third, Instead of dancing the night away, we all packed up and headed to the beach for the rest of the day! What a great idea? Both Brett + Kate are from Ohio and many people traveled for the wedding so it was perfect to spend the rest of the day with friends along the shore. I, personally, packed up about 10 bags of kettle corn and literally did not move from my beach chair for hours. It was glorious.
Brett + Kate, you had a gorgeous day & worked so hard. Brett all your efforts & attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I genuinely loved your enthusiasm for your big day & it was beyond a joy to share it with you two as a photographer & bridesmaid. The most abundant blessings over you & we all thank you for giving us a place to stay when we visit good ol’ South Carolina.
