If you plan to visit Greece, Milos should be added to your list to visit. It’s SO different from Athens & Santorini. It’s more of the ‘local’ feel/vibes, which is my most favorite thing when traveling. I love the hidden gems & being able to talk with locals and see how they do life. I don’t want to just force myself upon another culture, I want to embrace it. If you are a beach kind of person, then Milos is for sure the Greek Island you want to choose. They are not just normal beaches either. They are so unique and so different then anything I have ever experienced.
We stayed in the old fishing village of Klima, where fisherman would stay so they didn’t have to go back home. They would pull their boats into the lower part during a storm & sleep upstairs. Now, they are used as a ‘holiday-home’. Several people we talked to, they were from Athens and came to Milos to get away. Many of them have boats and go out fishing. It’s a way of life. It’s simple. Their homes are simple. You will see them in the pictures below – all the colorful homes, that’s their beach houses. I even took a couple pictures of the inside so you could see just how simple they were. This is the perfect place to feel like you are detoxing from the world, the tourism, and just sitting in the quiet. I highly recommend staying here. We booked an Airbnb & our cute place was the Orange colored home with an amazing rooftop we would play cards on at night. We arrived to Milos by Ferry from Santorini & took a ferry back to Athens.
One of my favorite beaches was Moon beach. You felt like you were walking on the moon. It was so unique. Not really any sand, but then you walk from the ‘moon’ into the water. Other beaches we had to climb down or up to get to, while one beach was more of the luxury beach. You paid for a chair, could get cold drinks & simply relax. I loved the variety of adventure & luxury.
You will see pictures of one of our meals in Klima that was literally steps away from our Airbnb, and I actually think it was one of my all time favorite meals. The flavor of everything was to die for & I photographed so much of it. I couldn’t get enough. It was right on the water & we were able to watch the sunset from dinner. Who wants to go back with me?!
