PELLE PRE-WEDDING FESTIVITIES | BEHIND THE SCENES

Corey + Maggie decided on a destination wedding at the beautiful Hemlock Inn in Bryson City, North Carolina & we are so thankful they did. So many friends and family made a weekend out of the trip to enjoy the Smokey Mountains. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to experience this lovely place with such wonderful people.  A past bride of mine, Amanda, was going to be traveling to this wedding as well so we ended up driving together. We arrived early on Friday & Maggie had adorable Welcoming Bags in each person’s room with the wedding weekend itinerary.

First, let me brag on this little hidden gem called the Hemlock Inn. It is a bed & breakfast style lodging with a patio view of the Smokey Mountains. They serve home cooked southern meals for breakfast and dinner. Lunch is on your own, but these two meals are included within your lodging fee. Trust me, you do NOT want to miss these meals. They ring the bell before the meals & it is their tradition to stand behind the chairs until grace is said. The best part about meal time is the large lazy-Suzanns in the center of each table, where you are served family style. I value their traditional meal time and emphasis they place on eating together. Aside from meals, they provide you with every game you would ever want to play. They also have an adorable lawn with strung lights where many played yard games. It is literally the perfect place to meet up with a group of friends or family for a get-away that allows you to eat meals together, stay up late, and explore the great adventure of the Smokey Mountains. Within each room, they provide you with a binder that includes things to do within the surrounding areas. Corey + Maggie did their homework & did just that.

Friday afternoon they had decided to go on a hike or tubing around 2 in the afternoon. I went with the bride and some of her family while Corey and many other friends went tubing. Along our hike, we saw them floating down the river. Maggie went down to get a picture with Corey so he asked her if she had her phone & she replied, “no!” He knew was he was doing though because that was his green light to get her wet. She was such a good sport about it too!! As she was getting out of the water, it began to rain, which led to a down pour!!!! We had to book it to the car because I had my camera with me (of course!!). We all piled into the Enclave soaking wet and headed back to get cleaned up for rehearsal and dinner.

Although it continued to rain for some time, it cleared up exactly when they needed it to. Rehearsal began and it was short and sweet. A wonderful southern meal followed and joy filled with the room. Following dinner, everyone simply spent quality time together. It was such a joy to spend this special time with Corey+Maggie, along with their family and friends. Enjoy the ‘behind the scenes’ of the wedding weekend!
