How do you put into words what exactly your momma means to you? Can you ever thank her enough? Tell her you love her enough? Say I’m sorry enough?
Mothers play one of the most significant roles in a child’s life & I am forever thankful for the sacrifices my mother has made to give my life so much meaning. She has allowed herself to be vulnerable, teachable, and moldable before the Lord, which has forever changed my life. To know my mom’s story & testimony and see how it has significantly shaped my own life is a beautiful thing. The legacy she has created is far more attractive than any worldly thing we could inherit from her. She has instilled in me self-worth and a love for the Lord.
Today in church, the pastor preached on 1 Samuel & the story of Hannah, who faithfully prayed for a child & vowed to return/dedicate this child back to the Lord. It reminded me so much of the many times my mom has told me how she would pray outside of our bedrooms & over us as young children. How powerful her faithfulness has been because I never had to endure the hardships she faced. I did not travel down the wide road, but instead, was gently led down the narrow path, promising new life.
Mom a.k.a. Coonie, I truly could write a book (which I plan to someday) about how 1 person’s commitment can forever change the generations to come. Thank you for staying home with us when we were young & sacrificing worldly things such as cable t.v.! As children, we didn’t need ‘things’, we needed YOU. Your attention. Your praise. Your discipline. Your honesty. Your authenticity. We saw you cry & the humility you brought into this home. Every moment was a teachable moment. The ugly was never hidden from us, but instead, with grace, you taught. As a stay at home mom, you have been a personal missionary to my soul. Humbled, I thank you for giving to the Lord.
Now that the mushy message is done, enjoy some classic photos!!! (:
