Growing up, I use to hate going to Amish country, I admit it. Now, adventuring around Amish country & trying all the new places with my husband is great! We recently had the opportunity to getaway for a night & document this GEM of a tiny home! Have ya’ll heard of the Tiny Homes? This tiny home was an amazing first experience for us. In this blog post, I’m going to be sharing all the images from this adorable place you can find in Berlin, OHÂ ( we even modeled a bit for them) & some of the other places you should visit if you happen to find yourself in amish country. I know some of you who follow my business may think ‘what in the world would you even do in amish country?’ HA! Well, honestly, there’s a lot of shops to adventure to, great food, amazing baked goods, and adorable little places like this to stay… So journey along if you want to to tuck this place in your back pocket.
I highly recommend this space for couples who live somewhat near amish country, but maybe don’t have the time to getaway for a long period of time. You know, when you just need to reset or reconnect? The owners of this tiny home specifically wanted their tiny homes to serve couples. We can speak from experience, it truly is a safe haven & the owners are true gems to work with. We went during the beautiful snow storm & it was amazing to unplug & watch the snow fall. Their business is called Tiny Stays Berlin & they over more than just this tiny home. Right next to us was another beautiful tiny home with an outdoor sauna ! We stayed at the LUX & you can read more about everything they offer on their website here. The owners, Kevin + Liz are genuinely intentional. They had biscottis waiting on us upon our arrival with a personalized note. The space may have been tiny, but we truly had everything we needed. Oh, and did I mention, if you stay in the LUX, they have the most amazing jacuzzi? – be sure to check out the bathroom pictures because it was pretty epic with a waterfall shower. I LOVED documenting their gorgeous space. Not only was it adorable, but they had games, books & a 90″ TV screen that fell from the ceiling. Justin + I enjoyed every moment of our stay here.
Now, for those wondering what to do in Amish country, I made a not of a few places to check out & a few places to eat. Most people tend to think of Der Dutchman when they think of Amish country, but if I’m honest, I don’t care for much past their bakery so we tried out some new places that are definitely worth checking out. If you want something similar to Der Dutchman, go to Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen. You will not be disappointed – their food is delicious. Another local restaurant that has some good amish cooking is Boyd & Wurthmann. Get the peanut butter cream pie 😉 If you are up for something a little more ‘hipster’ & yet AMAZING, go to East Main Kitchen. Honestly, this was my favorite. Justin got a pork chop & mashed potatoes (check out the picture at the end of this post) & we both agreed, it was SO GOOD ! They serve buffalo chicken dip in a cast iron skillet, need I say more? Not to mention, they offer Affogatos & that is hands down my favorite dessert. For coffee, I recommend Amish Country Donuts + Cafe, Buggy Brew Coffee (how amish of them), and Ginger house coffee. My favorite atmosphere is the 1st two & my favorite latte came from the Buggy Brew. Perhaps you want to grab pizza & bring it back to your cute tiny home, we recommend Park Street Pizza. Justin + I ordered one to go for our drive home & devoured an entire large by ourselves — oops! Another pizza place we have enjoyed on a different trip is Pizza Parlor. Both are great !
As for where to shop, I will just list some of our favorite shops below.
- Red Poppy (Think Joanna Gaines )
- Peddler (Think Joanna Gaines )
- Country Gatherings + Gardens – its huge & so cute. You will find the Buggy Brew coffee shop here
- Bfearless – cute boutique & carrier of everything Crocs if you are into those 😉 HA!
- Boot & Harness Shoes – they carry all the boots, shoes, North face, Carhartt, Columbia
There are so many more shops to just pop into, but those were my favorite. First things first, book your stay with Tiny Stays Berlin & getaway with your spouse — You will not be disappointed, just take a look below. Some of our dearest friends snuck away with us just for the day & I made them model in some photos too so you will see some adorable photos of them modeling as well ! Enjoy !!
^^^^ I highly recommend getting these out & having very intentional conversation while you are not distracted by the rest of the world. Justin + I did & I will be ordering a box of these 🙂
