The last wedding of 2015 did NOT disappoint. Despite the bitter cold & wind on their December wedding, Trevor + Kalie’s wedding day was nothing short of amazing. I honestly can’t believe what great supporters this entire wedding party was of my crazy ideas. I know I was cold, but I had more layers + hand warmers in my coat pockets. I never heard a genuine complaint (unless it was under their breath, ha!) or a negative attitude towards our portrait time. The guys have it a little easier wearing suits, but I want to genuinely THANK the entire bridal party for simply being so AWESOME and bearing the weather.
It’s so funny how situations play out and how God is even in the smallest details. Within this calendar year, I’m reminded of two moments that I believe, what seemed at the time, unimportant, but were small introductions into this big wedding day. A while ago, I ran into Trevor’s mom at Kroger (near the Starbucks, of course), and we said, “Hi!”. She actually thought I was someone else, but that was not the case. Little did she know I’d be with her all day on December 19th! We ‘chit-chat’ for a moment and went on our marry way. Fast forward months later & I ran into good ol’ Payne’s Pizza with my mom. I leaned over & said to her, “Aww, that looks like Trevor Harris + Kalie Denton over there… They’re cute together!!” I honestly had no idea if they were even together & didn’t really know either of them on a personal level. We went to neighboring schools & they were stud athletes so you just know who they are. Not too long after these encounters, they are engaged & I could not have been more excited when I saw a message from Kalie!!!!
They did not even look into an engagement session since Trevor plays professional football in Canada, but I still wanted to meet up with them to begin our relationship. I’m so thankful they took time out of their evening to get to know me + go over wedding details. I left that night filled with so much joy + anticipation for their wedding. Because I am a relational person, simple conversation with my clients are so life-fulfilling for me & I cannot speak highly enough about these two. We share a common foundation in our faith, and I believe it implements an instant bond between fellow believers. Throughout the entire day, it was awesome to witness their love towards Christ & to hear others speak about their relationship with the Lord. I’m excited for what God has planned for the newlyweds. You see, they were high-school sweethearts, but have spent 7 (I believe) years apart. It is so neat to witness God’s timing unfold, while playing a role in their story. Now, they are the official Mr. + Mrs. Trevor Harris. There are SO many great photos & maybe one of the best dancing receptions, but that was expected since the groom’s mother is a dance instructor. Kalie, I’ll tell you again, simply stunning, my friend. You were just glowing!!! Trevor, you have yourself a true gem, but you already knew that !!
Grab your popcorn + coffee and enjoy the day all over again… A huge shout out to Hannah, my assistant for the evening. She captures some awesome shots and was so helpful. (THANK YOU)! I will also point out for those who will notice… one bridesmaid, the talented Hunter, was being an amazing volleyball player so she missed the first part of portraits with just the girls. She played in an All American game in Nebraska the night before, caught a flight, and got all dolled up to be there in time for a 2:30 ceremony. I’d say that’s an awesome excuse, but don’t worry, we did some photos of the girls after the ceremony too with her !! Enjoy!
