WAKE & BAKE | APPLE CRISP

PINIMAGE

Good morning folks!!! It’s Wednesday & that means a new recipe to try… Although, if you read last weeks post, it will be very similar. Last week I posted about a CranApple Crisp. This week will simply be apple crisp because so many people have asked me for my recipe for this.

Well, you can’t have apple crisp without first, going apple pickin’. This past weekend, we had out of state guests who just happen to be about 6’4 & 6’9 – perfect for apple pickin’ right? I got one of them to go with me & for the first time EVER, I got the apples from the top of the tree. Sam was such a great sport about it, except for the fact that we may have went during the hottest part of the day when it was like 90 out! Oops!! Oh well, we had a great time & the result  was so worth it.

I will be posting the recipe below to my apple crisp, but I’ll admit, I only use it as a base to start. I have made it so many times, I end up doubling some things and cutting back on others… so experiment !!

APPLE CRISP

Apples of your choice (I used Macintosh) to fill your designated dish

Cinnamon

(I NEVER measure cinnamon & usually go crazy with it)

Sugar

(It calls for a crazy amount like 1 cup, but I seriously do about 1/3 cup & use less tart apples)

2T Flour

***Mix cinnamon, sugar, and flour together to coat apples

Topping

1 Cup Oats

(I use old fashioned & do about 3 cups!!!!!)

1 Stick of Butter

(I use real butter & use about 1.5 sticks)

1/2 cup BROWN sugar

(I use about 3/4-1cup)

1/3 cup flour

(I use about heaping 1/2cup)

3/4 cup pecans

(I use about 1 & 1/4 cups)

**Melt the butter, combine with the rest of the mixed ingredients and sprinkle over top

**Bake for 45-50 minutes at 350
