Everyone needs a Myers family in their life. They are real, vulnerable, selfless, sarcastic, wholesome, God-fearing, and extreme coffee lovers. My sophomore year of college, I met Kelly during my interview to be an RA in her building. She tells me she still remembers what I was wearing during the group interviews & she has it nailed to a T. Thankfully she hired me & the following school year we actually lived across the hall from one another. The first year I worked for Kelly, it was just her & Derek. Precious Penelope & Ruby were not even in the picture. I LOVED living across from these two & my brother actually became pretty close with Derek while at IWU & we would hang out with these two often in their apartment.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, I had the joy of serving under Kelly for two years & our friendship has continued over the years. She has challenged me in so many areas of my life & so has Derek. They have invested into my well-being & make me espresso shots all the time. They have an espresso machine & Derek use to make espresso shots for all the RAs for our meeting at like 9 p.m. We were wired, for sure. This past weekend Derek & I went out to buy some coffee ice cream & he poured shots of espresso over the ice cream. Talk about finding my weakness. SO GOOD! I do not know why Starbucks has not jumped on that bandwagon. They basically have meals in their now anyways.<\/p>\n

Anyhow, headed into my second year as an RA, Kelly had their first child Penelope June & we all just loved her to pieces. After the IWU days were over, they moved back to Ohio & they currently work at Malone University where they had their second child Ruby Kate. Can I just brag on this little family for a moment? Most people know my love for healthy\u00a0 lifestyles & meals and these two parents are doing something right. Penny & Ruby LOVE healthy food. This past weekend when I stayed with them, Penny sat at the table eating oatmeal with raisins, blueberries, and almonds. She was soooo excited about her raisins, it was pricelss. Penny had red shoes on at one point &\u00a0I told her I loved her red shoes & she replied back, “Red is for red peppers!!”\u00a0I love how they have instilled in their kids healthy eating habits. If Penny looks at the clock & sees 8:00 she says, “Papa, the clock says eight zero zero, it’s time for me to go to bed.” How precious is that? Talk about being the perfect little child. Both Penny & Ruby love to sit with books with can easily entertain themselves. I just love these two girls!!<\/p>\n
