First wedding of 2018 is in the books. Wedding season for me is starting a lot earlier this year, but it felt so good to be shooting again. Zon + Kierra had a beautiful February wedding in Ohio. The weather was certainly bearable in the morning, but turned cold quickly. By the time I had the groomsmen sneak outside for the portraits, it was windy and cold, turning to ice in some places. I will certainly say, Kierra is one of the most laid back brides I’ve worked with. I can’t say I have ever worked on the entire wedding day timeline with the groom’s mother before & not the bride. I LOVE that though. To me, it speaks volumes of the type of relationship the bride has with her mother in-law & that’s so beautiful. I can tell Zon has a good relationship with his mama & I’m so thankful to have witnessed the dynamic they have chosen to do life in. This couple simply trusted me with everything. If I suggested something, they took it as a ‘let’s do this’! That is a true honor to know they literally place the most precious moments in my hands to document. Thank you!!
Now, let’s talk about how beautiful Kierra looked!! All the detail were true to the season and almost everything was DIY. I loved what the girls carried instead of bouquets. Those were also made by a grandparent. It’s always so special when you can look back and say, “My grandma made that for my wedding!”
I could not blog their wedding & not mention the biggest scare of my career happened on their wedding day. About an hour before the ceremony, I walked 2 steps outside & hit black ice. I have never broken a bone nor sprained an ankle in my life so I knew some was wrong… seriously wrong. I had all my equipment in my hand & managed to get back into the church. My right ankle was starting to swell already so I took my boot off. I need to give a shoutout to Zon’s grandma !! She was a lifesaver. She was around all morning & I noticed she was in an aircast boot, but when she came to see me on the ground, she no longer has the boot on. I immediately told her I truly think I need your boot. I can’t walk. I took some IB Profen, stole her boot & worked the remaining 7 hours. I wasn’t sure if I broke my foot or what, but I was in a lot of pain. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to all the family, friends, and Zon + Kierra who were so kind to me & extended grace and a helping hand. You are all SO KIND! What are the odds that a boot would be there ?! Thank you God for your miracles we tend to overlook.
I could talk more about this wedding, but there are too many pictures to view for all of that. Enjoy!!
