MICHAEL + HALEY | WHIMSICAL BARN WEDDING

I met this couple for the first time at a wedding I photographed last summer. I ended up meeting with Haley at Starbucks to discuss her wedding & instantly clicked with this girl. We booked their wedding date & began talking about their engagement session. I remember her telling me several of her ideas for the engagement and her wedding. She didn’t want the “typical” session or wedding decor. Haley asked if we could do their engagement session at the Ohio State Fair!!! SAY WHAT?!!?!? WHY NOT?! Last July we had an epic session at the fair. I loved her idea & had so much fun. When vendors found out what we were doing, they gave us food for free and allowed us to ride rides for free. They were so kind to us.

They had so many meaningful details on their wedding day. Haley’s bracelet was created from pearls her mother received every year during her childhood. Michael’s sister & Haley made all the bow-ties that matched the belts stitched onto the girl’s dresses. The diamond necklace Michael gifted Haley was taken from another piece of jewelry that was meaningful to her. He also gave her the Dr. Sues book that she reads to her classroom every year. Haley surprised Michael with a watch and a safety pin with his grandparents’ pictures attached. Not only was she thoughtful in her own wedding details, but she stitched a special message in her father’s tie & gifted her bridesmaids a beautiful bracelet with coordinates of where they met. The ceremony was very special to them as well because Michael’s grandfather, who is 92, married them.

Their wedding day was very hot & windy, but that didn’t affect their portraits. Thankfully, their church was gorgeous stone on the inside that allowed natural light shine right through. It was the best of both worlds because the wind was not helping with the girls’ hair. Their reception was at the beautiful French Hen Farm, catered by Food Trucks. I’m telling you people, this is going to become very popular, I believe. So many benefits to the food trucks & your guests will LOVE it. They had a very whimsical decorated reception & it was so awesome. They had collected 31 globes & their florist created beautiful arrangements to look like hot air balloons. Michael proposed in a hot air balloon so it was perfectly fitting for their story. They ended the evening by releasing a chinese lantern that appeared to be a tiny hot air balloon itself floating in the distance.
