If Greece, specifically Santorini is not on your list of travels, YOU ARE CRAZY!! I have been very blessed to be able to travel & Santorini is hands down the most dreamy, romantic, beautiful, surreal place I have EVER seen with my own eyes. It is a place I hope I make it back to soon and very soon. Most of the time, I find myself loving new places, but always wanting to experience a new place instead of returning, but not with Santorini. I would go back tomorrow & so should YOU! So let me break down our trip here for you because I have already had 2 friends go here since I’ve been here and have sent them ALL these recommendations.

We flew from Athens to Santorini (about a 40 min. flight). Through our Airbnb & lodging company, they arranged pick-up from the airport. I am linking our Airbnb here. Our hosts are no rookies. They go ABOVE and BEYOND for you. Our hosts, Anna + Nick have a luxurious business going here & provide several options for lodging. I believe they own 4-6 Villas you can stay in. The Villa . we stayed at was Apanema Cavehouse & it was to die for. I almost NEVER wanted to leave it. We had our own private pool/hot tub. Somehow we were able to book this airbnb about 2 weeks before our trip. I have recommended it to a couple people & they can’t get in it because it’s so far booked in advance. It was a fluke on how we landed it. We actually found the Villa on Airbnb, but click here to go through Nick + Anna’s website. With our Villa, we have a beautiful view from our patio. It is very quiet & away from the hype of Santorini, which was SO NICE. Santorini is touristy so I was happy our villa was a little off the path. We were not too far from the grocery store either, which was perfect for making breakfast. Although we never met Nick + Anna, they have some AMAZING staff working for them. We LOVED them – ALL of them. They were personable, comical, and even hung out with us outside of work. Anna makes homemade Jam & they had complimentary breakfast, fruit, and even  a bottle of champagne in the fridge.

From the moment our transportation arrived at our location drop-off, Nick’s employees were waiting on our arrival. They grabbed all our bags & told us to go get breakfast & they would take care of everything else and to call them when we were down to let us in. So we had breakfast at Passaggio (see image below), which was the first place we stumbled upon. Once we arrived back to the Villa, we were shown around, given directions, and even recommendations. One thing to know about Oia is that is it KNOWN for its sunsets. People flock to Oia in the evenings to see some of the most stunning sunsets…. soo our host told us he made us reservations for a roof-top dinner at a local restaurant we could walk to so we did not have to fight the crowds to see the sunset. We could simply enjoy a meal while watching the sun go down. They never pressured us, but told us if we would not like the reservation to let him know & they would cancel it. How sweet was that?! They always informed us, they would serve us in transportation for anything we wanted to do, just call them.

DAY 1:

We arrived, unpacked, got changed & headed to Ammoundi Bay. It is a hike down from Oia, but that’s part of the experience. There are 300 steps you must take to get down to the bay & yes, that means 300 back up to Oia. CRAZY workout, but the views are unbelievable & you get to pass donkeys on the way. Once we got down to Ammoundi Bay, we went cliff jumping & by we, I mean Brett + Kate did. Now that I am single income & self-employed I can’t do all the crazy things… So I refrained, but I still went swimming! It was so refreshing after that hike & such beautiful views. After some swimming, sightseeing, and hiking, we went to our roof-top dinner our hosts suggested. See images below …

DAY 2:

We enjoyed coffee on the balcony & got ready for our hike ahead of us. We decided to hike from Oia to Fira, which was over a 5 hour deal. It was BEAUTIFUL !!! I can’t wait for you to see those photos. Make sure you take plenty of water, your camera, and some snacks along the way. Once we arrived in Fira, we had a sit down meal. I think this was one of my all time favorite meals too. Everything was AMAZING!! You can see the name of that restaurant and see our food below. Brett decided to run back (he’s crazy), the the three of us called our hosts to set up transportation to have them pick us up. They partner with VIP transportation and all their employees were wonderful to us. Once they dropped us off back at our place, we got in the pool and relaxed for a good while before getting dressed for our photo shoot (duh) and going out for sunset/dinner. We had some of the best gyros EVER (again, see below).

DAY 3:

Again, through our hosts, we booked a private boat tour for our last day in Santorini. It was just the 4 of us on the boat & they took us to hot springs, black beach, red beach, and so on. They also provided a meal for us & sadly I hate seafood so it was not enjoyed by me. Although I did try OCTOPUS !!!  Who am I ?!?!?! They too were wonderful & provided such great service. It was one of the most relaxing moments of my life. When I say Nick & his team of employees & partners go above and beyond I mean it. We technically had to be checked out of our Villa, but our transportation guy, that was taking us to our boat tour, took all of our luggage & dropped it off at his bosses house while we were on the boat. Then, he picked us back up, picked up our luggage & took us to the ferry drop off to get to the next island.

Also, even if you do not book one of Nick + Anna’s Villas, they will still act as a service to you in helping you book private tours or setting up transportation… so be sure to check out their website above.

Enjoy Santorini as much as I did through these pictures 😉

Upon returning home from Greece, I have had so MANY people tell me, “I had no Idea I wanted to go to Greece until I saw your pictures!” Trust me, you want to add it to your list. It’s unbelievable. The food, the history, the views, the culture, the beaches… ALL of it!! If you ever find yourself planning a trip to Greece, I am hoping I can point people to this post to give them names of a restaurant or how we navigated the country. This post will specifically be about Athens.

I met my friends Kate + Brett at the Charlotte airport & landed in Athens where, Kate’s sister Andi picked us up. I must admit, a lot of people have asked how we figured out how to navigate & Andi did all of our dirty work. She was a life saver. We didn’t need to do endless research like other trips because she currently lives in Athens and had some great tips of where to go, what to do, and where to eat. Her food recommendations were ON POINT! They were DELICIOUS!!! I recommend ALL of them!!

We arrived in Athens, went back to Andi’s place, changed and headed out to a beach. The beach we went to was called Kavouri Beach. The water was so clear & calm and the sand hand these beautiful ripples you could see so clearly. You will see pictures below. We stayed there until sunset, which was the most beautiful sunset we saw the entire time we were in Greece. I had high expectations for Santorini’s sunsets, but the most beautiful one was our first night. We ate dinner on the water. I tried to photograph all our meals because food is a part of the experience.

We volunteered and served an organization called Threads of Hope. GUYS, I encourage you to go support them. They are a non-profit organization helping women leave a lifestyle of prositituion. They educate these beautiful woman with life skills, their self-worth, and how to sew. Once they have learned to sew, they make GORGEOUS products that are available for purchase. You can click on their name to go straight to their website & shop. We had the opportunity to meet some of the women, watch them work, and serve them. I even had the opportunity to take some images for them of the products.

One of my favorite things we did a couple times at night was going to an outdoor movie theatre. It was awesome & we had beautiful weather. We would buy our popcorn and snacks and sit outside under the moonlight. My second favorite thing was GELATO!!!! If you are ever in Athens, find Le Greche. The first day I had a lemon + mint sorbet – to DIE for on a hot day. The next day, I had dark chocolate & coffee. Does it get any better than that? We tried so many flavors.

Restaurants to tuck in your back pocket are:

*Nice n Easy

*Kuzina

*Mavro  Provato tou Press Cafe

Also, be sure to look up local markets or ask the locals about their markets. We picked up some food and herbs there, too.

Places we explored were the Acropolis & The Panathenaic Stadium. We covered MANY miles. That’s mainly how we got around Athens, our God-given feet. Between Andi driving, the trains, or our feet, that’s how we made our way around. I loved walking, personally, because you get to experience more of the culture.

Stay tuned for more of Greece… Santorini & Milos are coming!!! A major thank you to Andi for showing us all around Athens, hosting us, and making sure we ate well. THANK YOU!!

It’s been 18 years of vacationing with these people. How special it that? I truly do not want to ever take for granted this rare opportunity to be vacationing with dear friends, who are more like family, for this long. We met at good ol’ Camp Hebron in PA. Every summer, in July, we would pack up the van & arrive in Peter’s Mountain for a week, where we would meet families from all over. I have so many friendships from there, but THESE humans are extremely special and near to my heart. I absolutely LOVE them. Probably 5 years ago, we all officially stopped going to Camp, but our friendship has remained. Most of these people here are all related, but they have been so kind to me to invite me on their family vacation EVERY year!!! Thankfully, I have a job that allows me to make a flexible schedule & go.

We are all at different stages of life, but doing life with these people has got to be one of the sweetest treats in my life. They are real, authentic, bold, adventurous, funny, and love Jesus! We always have devotions & worship time, together and separate. It is not uncommon to turn the corner and find someone diving into the word. They have real conversations that are important. You know, the ones that most people do NOT want to have? They call you out, they ask tough questions, but they also encourage you. They lift you up in prayer & make you feel important.

One of my favorite things about this group is that they are NEVER bored! This is not just a highlight of our trip, we truly did not have our phones much. We were either swimming, dancing, playing volleyball, basketball, cards, football, or spikeball. We made meals together & laughed around a table. We only went out to eat 1 time the entire week. I truly pray every one of you reading this has people in your life you get to live in community with. Never opt for being alone. Never be too proud to be vulnerable. Never be to glued to your phone to genuinely listen and have intentional conversation. Never be too scared to try something new.

Thank you to these sweet sweet people for their friendship. There are not many like you & I’m spoiled to know you. Blessings to you all !

Oh, did I mention we went to the Outer Banks ?! It doesn’t where we go, it’s who we are with!!

Alex + Kinze had a gorgeous August wedding, despite some major humidity. Of course, the forecast called for rain, but thankfully it held off for us the entire day. We were able to get some many GORGEOUS photos. One of my favorite things about the locations we photographed at was the fact that we photographed Kinze’s senior portraits in both locations. The morning of the wedding, Kinze told me she really wanted to go to the bridge for her and Alex’s portraits, where we took many of her senior pictures. I was SO excited she even thought of that. It’s one of my favorites & I’ve never photographed a  bride and groom there. THEN she had an even better idea, to drive Alex’s truck in the water for me to stand on so I could get the entire bridge. I probably would have never suggested taking Alex’s truck in the water because it’s too nice, but when she said it, I couldn’t jump at the opportunity any quicker.

Isn’t she lovely, though? Seriously! Kinze is just stunning & Alex ADORES her! I love when he gives her sweet little kisses when I do not even ask him to. They are so great together & were such a joy to work with. They did not have official bridesmaids or groomsmen, which gave us so much time for their portraits. There were specific photos they requested with people so we made sure to get those included, but the rest was all about Alex + Kinze. Years ago, I was in my best friends wedding who happened to have the adorable umbrellas. She gave them to me after her wedding & I have NEVER used them in like 6 years until this wedding. Kinze had two sweet little girls as her flower girls & we had some fun with their portraits. Their ceremony was held in Richwood with a reception following at All Occasions Barn. So many sweet moments captured, a few tears & many laughs. One of my favorite moments was little Harrison just bawling during the ceremony & after the ceremony. He and Kinze have the sweetest relationship & his little heart is SO BIG!  LOVE this wedding !!!

Jesse + Janae will forever have one of the most memorable wedding days in the history of my career. Not to mention, their wedding literally went viral. Between the bride/groom, her family & myself, we were contacted by New York Reporters, local news stations, Spanish websites, Good House Keeping Magazine, and a few others to cover the story of their wedding day. It was hands down the most emotional, raw, and authentic day. They were married on the bride’s family property, in a barn that is 100 years old. I photographed her sister, Alicia’s wedding reception here, but Janae was the first daughter to actually get married in this barn. Her father, Steve Price, put a lot of work into the barn to make it suitable for a ceremony.  It was GORGEOUS. With that being said, I will admit, from photography standpoint, it was the trickiest ceremony I have ever photographed because of tall the wood beans & levels. I still LOVE how all of their ceremony pictures turned out. It forced me to get creative & capture different angles that are not normally captured. It was perfect.

In case you have been living under a rock & haven’t seen anything on this story, the father of the bride was hospitalized with a severe case of pancreatitis. The Wednesday before the wedding, the doctor made the call & informed the family he would not be able to attend the wedding. After processing the devastating news that Steve would not be able to walk Janae down the aisle or see her get married in the barn he worked hours on, the finally started on Plan B! At the end of the day, Jesse + Janae were still going to get married, but we rearranged the timeline to drive down to OSU Hospital (about 50 minutes one way) to SURPRISE her father. Janae wanted to make sure her dad saw her in her wedding dress, he could wear his boutonniere & they could share in a father/daughter dance. Steve’s nurse told him they were going down to get an X-ray, but he was in on the surprise & rolled his wheel-chair down to the chapel to see Janae. It was one of the most beautiful moments that I will allow the pictures below to speak for themselves. Steve may not have physically been at the wedding, but thanks to technology & Tyler, he was on facetime on an iPad the whole day. He actually watched her walk down the aisle & gave her away over the iPad. During the father/daughter dance at the reception, she danced with her brother, Nathan, but they played on a TV the video from earlier where she danced with her father at the hospital.

Jesse was such a rock for Janae & it was beautiful to watch him love her through such an emotional moment(s). Love is sacrificial, it is selfless & you, Jesse, displayed such a beautiful picture of that on your wedding day. Thank you for that gift. Now, let’s talk about those suits Jesse picked out for himself & the fellas. They truly are some of my FAVORITES. How can you go wrong with navy? They looked sharp. Nice pick!

Janae, you looked stunning in your fitted gown. I love that your dad called you his ‘Carrie Underwood’. The bridesmaids wore that beautiful blush pink that paired perfectly with the suits. I love that combinations of colors.

I’m honored to have been able to capture this day. There are so many authentic moments captured & beautiful smiles, too. Enjoy scrolling through this wedding day – there are SO.MANY.PICTURES.
