Wow oh wow was this a GREAT session! I just returned from a month of traveling to a very humid and hot Ohio. I was in the Outer Banks & a Greece and Ohio was more hot than both of those places. With that being said, we caught a humidity break just in time for their engagement session. It was still warm, but SO PERFECT! The evening light could not have been more dreamy & Paige’s hair stayed FLAWLESS! Seriously though, can we all agree that her hair is so envious? So much volume with the perfect curl. Not to mention, she has the most striking features. I remember thinking that when I took her senior pictures like 5 years ago, but man, if only I could pull off that serious look like she does. You have the most beautiful eyes, girl & I’m sure Tyler agrees 😉 They BOTH are very photogenic with contagious smiles.

We took their engagement pictures on Paige’s grandparents property, down on the farm. I LOVED this old barn & it’s character. Her grandpa actually told me, they almost tore it down already,  but I am SO HAPPY they didn’t….at least not yet. It’s funny what I find beauty in that people see as old and ugly.

I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next year. We are already under the one year mark. SO CRAZY! Thanks for an awesome session & waiting until golden hour – totally WORTH IT!

This sweet couple is getting married later this fall, but had the perfect summer engagement session. It was actually very hot and humid all day, but once evening rolled around, we caught a breeze we were very thankful for. My mom & Andy’s mom have been friends since I can remember. Growing up, I always thought Andy was so much older than me & it’s crazy when everyone reaches ‘adult’ ages that you realize he isn’t that much older than you. I loved meeting his beautiful fiance & hearing about how they met. I felt like it was right out of a hallmark movie or something. Angie grew up in the city, but is fully embracing the country lifestyle. I was so excited when they told me they wanted to go to the fields for pictures. Not to mention, they would still have the round bales in them. It’s always been on my list to photograph a couple in a field full of round bales. To say I was extremely happy is an understatement… AND at golden hour? Doesn’t it get ANY better? We started their session on Andy’s parent’s property, where the ceremony will actually be located. It will be so beautiful in the fall, I can’t wait. Thanks for a beautiful session, Andy + Angie!! You guys rocked it.

We may have been at the beach for a wedding, but we couldn’t NOT take advantage of gettin some couple portraits in at the beach. I always say the best pictures are after a rain & that statement certainly held true this night. It poured, even stormed before we took these photos. We were even blessed with a rainbow in portraits that I could not be MORE excited about. Typically when you head to the beach for portraits you realize just how windy it is & even frustrating for pictures… but NOT this night. I couldn’t ask for a better evening on the beach. The waves were calm, the sky was mysterious, and the couples were killin’ it.

Tim & Rob basically look like twins, don’t they? I have had the joy of getting to know the Veenstra family for years now & I loved this trip because I felt like I truly got to know their spouses even better. I adore Kelbi + Rach! They are the sweetest & honestly, some of the funniest gals I know, especially Kelbi. I’m so thankful they allow me to do life alongside of them. Thank you for making me NOT feel like a 5th wheel & always being mindful. I’m thankful to get to know you gals better. You are such a beautiful example of the covenant of marriage. Enjoy your AMAZING photos.

This is by far one of the best “workations” I have ever experienced. I truly traveled down to Florida with the Veenstra family for work, but we made the most of an amazing week leading up to it. I met the Veenstra’s my Junior & Senior year of college. I started to become really good friends with Kelly. I had known of her before my Junior year, but for whatever reason things did not click between us until later. Kelly & I have such a unique friendship. I feel as though I knew nothing about her to sharing in some of life’s most special moments.

Kelly & I quickly became very close. I think the one thing that drew us closer was when she encouraged me to take an internship in Ft. Wayne the summer between my jr & sr year of college. That meant I would be living near her. All the details aligned & she hooked me up with the Chastain family for lodging for the summer. I quickly started being around the entire Veenstra family that summer. I knew Tim (Kelly’s brother) from college as well, but this was the summer I got to know the ENTIRE family. Let me tell you, the Veenstra’s are nothing short of FUN! They are such a good time & know how to throw a good party. As I look at the first image above, one of my favorite things is knowing all of the Veenstra kids before their spouses came into the picture & having the opportunity to watch them grow in their faith and in their relationship with their significant other. I love them all!!

When Amanda (the bride) asked me about shooting her wedding & traveling to Florida, I couldn’t have been happier. We had the most gorgeous beach house with the pool to the left & just steps away from the beach. We could not have a more perfect set-up. Every morning Papa V & I got up for sunrise and took a long walk. The days were spent soaking up the sun, doing a little shopping & just enjoying the week celebrating Amanda + Jaylin.

Thank you Veenstra’s for an amazing week!! I love y’all & I am beyond thankful for your friendship. You certainly know how to make people feel special & have a wonderful time.

WOW oh WOW is all I have to say about Jaylin + Amanda’s wedding. What a joy & PRIVILEGE it was to be able to capture this destination wedding. Amanda belongs to one of my favorite families, the Veenstras!! They are truly some of the most fun people to be around who love the Lord and give you the freedom to be nothing but yourself. I will soon be posting our entire week in Florida leading up to the wedding. You can see where we stayed, the beautiful scenery, rehearse & so much more. In the meantime, let’s just talk about Jaylin + Amanda and their WEDDING!!

They got married at Runaway Island in Panama City. It was about 20 minutes away from where we were staying. Runaway Island is definitely where the tourists are so we did the majority of our portraits in our gated community. I am SO THANKFUL we did. So many options and amazing backdrops for their pictures. The beach was so much less crowded, the houses were adorable, and palm trees were everywhere. How can you have a Florida wedding without palm trees in some pictures? I’m going to go head and put a plug in for Runaway Island if you are ever considering a destination wedding in Florida – it’s GREAT!!!! The people were AMAZING to work with, which is half the battle when planning from afar. The beach was perfect, and the venue upstairs above their restaurant was absolutely the perfect space.

Jaylin + Amanda chose to do a first look, which gave us the opportunity to take full advantage of all the photo opportunities. During their first look, they read their vows to one another. Jaylin gave Amanda a charm for her pandora bracelet & Amanda washed Jaylin’s feet. She hates feet & told him a long time ago, he would know if she loved him if she touched his feet. ha! It was a special moment in a nice secluded area. One of my favorite details about the portraits is that we were able to do all the group photos in front of our OWN beach house. We all LOVED our beach house & I thought it could not have been more perfect to document this space with the group. Not to mention, it kept them from walking all over in the extreme heat & sweating.

Amanda’s sister, Kelly of Kelly Moses Design, designed her entire invitation suite. Aren’t they GORGEOUS? Kelly’s husband, Corbett, became my personal assistant the morning of the wedding. We put that height to great use when it came to hanging the dress. I had a vision for the dress, but my short self could not execute it on my own. I love have Kelly + Corbett around to help me on the wedding day!!

Their wedding was very intimate including close family + friends. Although it was a small wedding, do not under estimate the dance floor. Everyone was dancing ALL NIGHT ! IT was AWESOME! So many great photos.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU Jaylin + Amanda for entrusting me to capture your destination wedding & making me feel a part of the group. I’m so thankful the Lord brought you two together. I love the way you look at one another & how mindful you are of each other. You are such a power couple & I’m thankful you are helping lead the way in a positive example for the world to see. Wishing you many blessings over your marriage. Love y’all!
